Improve
your SEO and get free traffic from search engines!
When
people search for a product that your website may be offering, they
type in certain ‘keywords’ on a search engine, and they most
often click on one of the links that is displayed on the first page
(maybe two, three first pages). So the idea is to get the search
engines to like your website so much that they display it as near
the top as possible. The best way to do this is to make sure that
your website is optimized for those keywords – not just the
home page, but all the pages in your site should be rich in those
keywords. This is what SEO is all about.
Good
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is of high importance in quality
traffic generation, and done right it can do wonders for your
business. You need some targeted traffic to attract
the right kind of people to your website, people who actually have
the potential of turning into customers. However,
SEO is a big issue that you should spend some time studying it
before starting out.
Fortunately there are some features
that can help you along the SEO road. Firstly we have this VERY good
ebook “SEO Made Easy” which you can download for free at
http://onlinebizniz.com/seo_made_easy_br.pdf . Recommended
reading!
Secondly, you should implement a sitemap on your site. A
sitemap will improve your SEO because it’s making your web sites
search engine friendly.
Search engine crawlers (robots) use internal
links to spider a site. Having a "Site Map" link at the front page
ensures that the most important pages of your web site are
definitely seen by those crawlers.
On the
following site you can have a sitemap created for free:
http://www.xml-sitemaps.com. There you can create four different
kinds of sitemaps. What you would create and submit to Google is an
XML sitemap. When created, the XML sitemap must be uploaded
to your root folder (usually public_html) of your website. In
addition you can create an HTML sitemap to put on your pages
to help visitors navigate on your site (it also helps search engine
robots crawl your site).
A sitemap creator (software) you can get here:
http://www.likno.com/sitemap.html?gclid=COG346TrrpkCFYh_3godFQKQHw.
The free version has limited features but can create an ok sitemap
for your website. If you later on would like to have the full
featured version you can buy a license and get an activation code
for the application.
Thirdly, there
is a very useful service that can give you a detailed report on the
quality of your SEO and make suggestions on how to improve it. They
look at and evaluate more than 90 factors about your website and
create a custom optimization report for you.
You’ll have to pay for the pro version of this service, but you can
have created a mini-report for free and see if the service might be
useful to you. And even that mini-report will give you some valuable
knowledge of your site’s SEO and you’ll learn something about SEO in
general from it.
You can find the service here:
http://www.coffeecup.com/firefactor.
It’s
also adviceable to participate in online forums where such issues
are discussed, and where you can ask questions and get help from
more experienced people than yourself.
Sincerely,
Kanute Fleming
